Badwater 135

Often referred to as the “world’s toughest foot race,” the Badwater Ultramarathon is an extremely difficult endurance test. This exhausting 135-mile (217-kilometer) race starts at Death Valley, California’s Badwater Basin, which is 282 feet (86 meters) below sea level and is known as North America’s lowest point. The race travels over a challenging terrain and ends at 8,360 feet (2,548 meters) above sea level at Whitney Portal, the trailhead to Mount Whitney.
Competitors must endure intense heat, reaching as high as 130 degrees Fahrenheit (54 degrees Celsius), while they travel across arid desert, twisting roads, and sharp slope. The event takes place in the middle of July. It takes unmatched physical and mental endurance from its competitors to complete this ultramarathon, which is more than just a race but a war against the weather.
